Amber Elliston

Founder & President, Andy’s ABCs
Amber Elliston is the visionary behind Andy’s ABCs, serving as its Founder and President—but her most cherished title is “Andy’s mom.” A passionate advocate for children with special needs, Amber’s dedication to inclusion, education, and compassionate community support is deeply rooted in her personal journey as the mother of two incredible boys, Andy and his big brother, Hudson—both part of the special needs community in meaningful ways.

Originally from Adamsville, Alabama, just outside Birmingham, Amber has always believed in the strength of love, the healing power of laughter, and the resilience of the human spirit. Since marrying her husband George in June 2009, she has embraced family life with unwavering devotion. Following the heartbreaking loss of her beloved son Andy, Amber channeled her grief into purpose, founding Andy’s ABCs to honor his legacy and uplift other children and families facing similar challenges.

A proud Disney enthusiast and avid crafter, Amber infuses creativity, joy, and authenticity into everything she touches. Through Andy’s ABCs, she works tirelessly to ensure every child feels seen, supported, and celebrated—just as Andy always was.

Melissa Thornton

Secretary, Andy's ABCs

Melissa Thornton serves as the Secretary of Andy’s ABCs and is a proud aunt to Andy, whose memory and spirit continue to inspire her every day. The youngest sister of Andy’s dad, Melissa brings heart, dedication, and a deep family connection to the mission of the organization.

Melissa lives just outside of Atlanta, Georgia, with her husband and their three children. Her oldest child is just five months younger than Andy, making their bond especially meaningful. As a mother and aunt, Melissa understands the importance of nurturing, advocating for, and celebrating every child’s unique journey.

A passionate crafter and creative spirit, Melissa loves making things with her hands—but nothing brings her more joy than time with her family. Her role with Andy’s ABCs is rooted in love, and she is honored to help carry forward Andy’s legacy through purposeful service and heartfelt connection.
